Recently, the Australian Research Council sponsored a Distinguished Lecture series by Dr. Oviatt on educational interface design as part of the HCSNet: Network of Human Communication Science & Technology program. Dr. Oviatt gave seminars at National ICT Australia in Sydney, University of Melbourne, University of Queensland, and the Cognitive Load Theory Conference.
Our recent research has uncovered interface design features that substantially increase ideational fluency during students’ science problem solving activities. During spring term 2011, Dr. Oviatt will be teaching a course on The Future of Educational Interfaces at Stanford University to students in Education, Computer Science, and the Symbolic Systems Program. The course will be based on her new book by the same title (Routledge Press, forthcoming in 2012).
